Saturday 29th July

I will hold off on doing a regular update today as I believe that Téa will do one herself from hospital later.

Friday 28th July

Tealou is talking like herself again. You could just about knock her Doctor over with a feather he was that surprised by her progress. This week she has gone from being close to death to almost normal again. Tuesday I was told that she could be in hospital for 6 weeks now she could be out as early as mid next week.

Tealou has trouble knowing how long its been since things have happened but that is mostly due to the fact that she lost 6 days. For example, things that happened yesterday she thinks happened a few days ago.

Tealou is over the Sepsis and her temperature is back to normal.

A scan today showed that there is still a 'leak' in her stomach. Doctors believe that no further surgery will be required but that depends on how she goes this weekend. I'm sure that at the rate she is going she will heal that 'leak' by herself in no time. Drains are still in just in case.

Tealou saw her baby boy Jules today and will see Mina tomorrow.

Tealou is very positive and believes that she will be out of hospital as soon as she possibly can. Tealou thanks all her friends for their continued support and plans to get a laptop set up in the hospital soon so she can talk to everyone.

Thursday 27th July

Despite Tealou being in a fair amount of pain and not having a complete grasp of time, Tealou is finally fully awake and able to communicate. Her lungs are looking good so there is no real chance of her having to go back onto the breathing machine.

Tealou is very overwhelmed by what has happened over the last two weeks as you would expect. She is processing it in her own way. While she has only been awake for a day and a half and alert for a third of that she doesn't hold back when speaking her mind.

Tealou is still fighting Sepsis and is being filled with antibiotics to try and reverse that. She also still has drains clearing the area around the 'leak'.

After sweating about what her reaction would be, I told Tealou about this blog to update her friends on her condition. Fortunately for me she thought it was a sweet and loving thing to do. She thanks all her friends for the thoughts and prayers, even she didn't think this blog would be so popular with 352 different people checking in on Tealou. I also told her about her mention in the comments section of 'The Spin Starts Here' to which she replied, "Good, now I should get a mention in 'The Age'".

Thankyou for your continued support. The fight isn't any easier yet but the road does look straighter.

Wednesday 26th July

Well only a few short days ago Tealou could have gone either way. Today she spoke for the first time in six days.

Tealou is still very sedated and isn't up to being very coherent but she did speak and seems to understand most of what was being said to her. While the tube is out there is still a chance that it could go back in if problems occur. At her level of sedation, it is hard to know if she understands that she has been unconscious for six days or not.

Tealou is still fighting Sepsis and is being filled with antibiotics to try and reverse that.

X rays showed that her lungs are recovering quite well.

It is hoped that she will be well enough to return to a normal ward tomorrow but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't until the day after.

Thankyou for your continued support and well wishes. Hopefully in a day or two I will be able to tell her that your positive thoughts helped her come back from the edge.

Tuesday 25th July

Today marks five days since Tealou was put into her unconscious state. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it but she is physically looking better. This must from being in her friends thoughts. Her temperature is still in the high 37's but considering what it has been, high 37's might as well be normal.

Tealou is still fighting Sepsis and is being filled with antibiotics to try and reverse that.

Tealou will have an X-Ray later today to see it she is well enough to wean off of the respirator. If she is, she will be weaned over the course of a day or two. She is breathing a lot on her own now.

Scans yesterday showed that the 'leak' seems to have slowed to almost a stop and at this time no other surgery will be required.

Dr's seem to think her hospital stay could vary between 2 and 6 weeks after she leaves the ICU.

I want to thank everybody that has visited the site and shown their support for Tealou. I have enjoyed reading your comments and emails and have found them to be very comforting. Today has been the first day with some positive news and I believe a lot of that can be contributed to the positive energy being generated by her friends. Be sure that I will keep you posted everyday.

What, When, Why?

Tealou is a very private person (believe it or not) but without divulging too much of what she would like private I would like to tell you what she is going through and why she needs to be in the thoughts of all her friends. Tealou needs as much positive energy directed towards her as possible.

Tealou was admitted into a private hospital here in Perth (the name of which I will share when it becomes relevant, you will see why it isn't yet further down) on the 17th of July. Tealou went for surgery to her stomach which if all went well she would be discharged from hospital between 1 and 3 days later.

After the surgery Tealou was in a significant amount of pain. Tealou would fall in and out of consciousness, screaming from the pain when she was awake. I was told by the Dr that the pain was probably being caused by a perforation (he used the word 'leak') in the stomach and Tealou went into surgery again on Thursday the 20th.

During the surgery the Dr cleaned out Tealou's insides and inserted drains to help remove any extra 'fluid' (stomach acids and the like I assume). A tube also removes Tealou's 'fluid' from the inside, draining through her nose. No leak was found during the surgery but it is there somewhere. It is assumed that this 'leak' should close up by itself.

Since the surgery on the 20th, Tealou has been kept unconscious in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital. A machine breathes for her and she is hooked up with about 6 IV's. Tealou is currently fighting Sepsis brought on by a big infection which caused her temperature to spike to 40'Celcius. While her progress seems to be non existent at the moment her temp has fallen to the high 37's which is an improvement.

It is unknown when Tealou will be able to be woken up as she is not improving as fast as Dr's would like. As I write this, Tealou has been unconscious in the ICU for 4 days. Another Dr was called in to give another opinion today to see if there is anything else that can be done to help her. As of writing this, I haven't heard if the new Doc have any other ideas or not.

I don't want her location to be public just yet because the ICU is busy tending to the needs of its patients and doesn't have the resources to deal with calls about Tealou or flower deliveries. When Tealou is finally out of the ICU she will be able to receive flowers and cards. I will publish the name of the hospital for anyone who wants to know then.

When Tealou leaves the ICU she will still have a long stay in hospital ahead as her stomach will not work and she will require bed rest and nourishment through an IV line. I'm sure when this happens she will demand her laptop so she can talk to all her online friends.

Finally, I have created this site firstly to update everyone on Tealou's current condition but also because it is not guaranteed that Tealou will make it out of the ICU. While I personally believe that she will be alright there is a chance that she will be unable to fight this infection. This, above all else, is why she needs your thoughts. I will update you on her condition daily so check back regularly.
